Toyota conducted its first Etios Motor Racing Cup in India recently. We did a thorough coverage of the EMR when it was held at the Buddh International Circuit during the 2013 National Racing Championship. The winners of EMR Diljith, Akhil Rabindra & Varun V. Anekar will be participating in the Toyota Vios One Make Race to be held in Thailand.
The Vios OMR – One Make Race is being organized by Toyota Motor Thailand in association with Toyota Racing Development (TRD). The 3rd and 4th round of the Toyota Motorsport 2013 is being held in Thailand and the first two rounds are scheduled for the 19th and 20th of October and 9th and 10th of November respectively.
The drivers participating in the championship are being trained specifically for this event by the racing school being conducted by TRD in Thailand. The three Indian drivers will be competing against other skilled international drivers in this championship. The 3rd round is expected to take place in Chiang Mai and the 4th round will be conducted in Bangkok.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. N Raja, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Toyota had launched EMR in India with a promise to provide young & talented motorsport enthusiasts a platform to exhibit their skills and we have succeeded in helping these young talent find a place of their own. EMR was launched in India in 2012 and we have come a long way ever since. 2012 saw two hugely successful exhibition races at Chennai and Gurgaon, and finally an international exposure at the Colombo Night Race in December. The inaugural EMR trophy this year gave us the first winners of EMR and we are very happy to take them to Thailand for Toyota Motorsport 2013- a Toyota Racing event. This reiterates Toyota’s commitment towards motorsports in India as these young EMR drivers will get an opportunity to be a part of the Vios One Make Race.”
Toyota EMR was a very well conducted race in India. Toyota India even gave the drivers an international exposure when a race was conducted in Colombo, Sri Lanka in December last year. The Vios Cup will help give a greater exposure to the drivers who wish to participate in international events.
Toyota Motorsport is an event that capitalizes on the fun and excitement of motorsports. It is expect to attract several thousand motoring fans who will come together to enjoy a weekend of motorsports. It will be an exciting carnival of sorts that is being organized by Toyota Thailand in association with TRD Thailand. During the Toyota Motorsport event there will be race events, drift shows, car displays and a host of other exciting activities that will enthral all the visitors and guests at the motoring event. This year Toyota Motorsport will host three categories of races – Vios One make Ladies cup, Vios One Make Race and Yaris One make race. A total of six rounds are scheduled to take place in 2013, including five regional rounds in Thailand and one international round in Malaysia.
Supporting activities include a Vios fun drive show,Toyota 86 Drift show and a Super car stunt show by Toyota Team Thailand .
